Have You Got A Website For Your Business? Let Me Phrase That Question A Little More Precisely... Have you got a website THAT GETS RESULTS for your business?
Let's show you what I mean...If you do a Google search for "Web Design" you get 297 MILLION results! (rather seems like the world is involved in web design!) Just think of that number for a moment - 297,000,000 competing sites - Wow!
And nowadays, you don't even have to hire anyone to build you a website - there are plenty of great software programmes such as Dreamweaver or NVU that will take the grunt out of the coding and produce some very attractive sites.
However, there are millions and millions of very attractive websites that are buried alongside.....millions and millions of other very attractive websites. Just take the example of "Web Design" above. How many sites do you think get noticed out of 297 million?
Probably only those that appear on the first few pages of Google. Which is why YOUR website must be gauged by it's effectiveness for your business and not by how pretty or flashy it is. Which begs the question - how can you ensure that your website gets results?..... There are a number of key issues here.
Firstly, your site must be tightly focussed. For example, if you're a dog trainer, you can create a site about dogs. But "dogs" is already overcrowded with 167 million competing sites. So, you narrow it down a little. How about "dog trainer" - much better - down to just over 5 million.
"Dog trainer + Cambridge" gives under 2.5 million. Going down - but let's look at it from another angle - supposing your speciality as a trainer is in working with Rottweilers. If you target "Dog Trainer + Rottweilers", you're down to 380 thousand (sounds much nicer than "Millions") and if you narrow it down even further to "Dog Trainer + Rottweiler + Cambridge, you're down to a manageable 15 thousand competing sites.
So, you're now working in a tightly focussed niche where you have a much better chance of getting some decent results. ...
