The Directory
This site is a directory for blogs and websites that don't use the nofollow microformat.
At Do Follow 001 it is easy to register as a member and engage in the site by submitting your own “dofollow” website recommendation or marking those already listed but who have changed their status.
All websites that Suburban Glory design are done so with the intention of being search engine friendly, and Do Follow 001 is no different in this regard.
This site has advanced anti-spam measures installed.
The RSS Semantic Feed Directory
Designed with the popular internet colour purple and pink, RSS 001 is intended to use the best of Web 2.0 features and aspects of upcoming Web 3.0 approaches.
This site is reliant on website owners submitting their RSS feeds which are then parsed on a regular basis with semantic tags automatically added using the Calais system.
RDF is also automatically added along with the common meta tags.
The Community Group
This website for Hackney Solidarity Network had to be bright but easy to navigate and minimalist.
It was going to be a focal point for a range of community groups in the London Borough of Hackney, displaying the latest local news and upcoming events.
Most importantly, it had to be easy for non-technical people to publish material.
It is a straight forward process to publish new articles and new events and to send out email newsletters, as well as adding new URL addresses to the links page.
The Press Release Service
It's good to try to keep use of Javascript to a minimum, but it was particularly important on this site as the page size had to be kept as small as possible in anticipation of a large number of users. This way there would be a minimal server load (less financial cost) and quicker page load times for the user (if you want to see an extreme application of this design specification then look at reddit.com or Craiglist).
Press Release 001 is easy to administer and easy for new members to join and publish content.
All the main on-page Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) points were followed including semantic mark-up, search engine friendly URL's and clear site navigation and categories.
